Photography as a tool for urban investigation

Together with Davide Virdis and Maddalena Rossi, we have organised an educational photography seminar for ten years.

Rather than presenting photography as an autonomous practice, we have shown how it can be employed as a tool to help interpret and understand the city. The resulting works seek to reposition ‘the photograph in time – not its own original time for that is impossible – but in narrated time’. (Berger, John. (2003). On Looking at Milan. B. Mondadori).

You will find the results of this long-term project here. We would like to thank the students who produced these interpretative exercises.
